It had been a while since Mina had been away
with her friends. This would be her first summer vacation in about a year and a half.
School and work had pretty much taken over her life. They weren’t doing much, just
heading on up to the mountains for a 4-day camping trip.
When she got home from work the following day she wasted not one moment and started to
pack all her gear, got the cooler ready and headed on in for a decent nights nap. 7am was
due to roll around pretty quick.
Morning came and Mina was pretty much ready to go, already showered and waiting at the
door for her friends Andrea, her boyfriend Steve and his friend Dennis. Mina looked
forward to seeing Dennis. They had met at a party a few weeks before and they seemed to
have a lot in common, but neither made the first move in asking if they could see each
other again, so she took it as a good sign that he decided to come.
Finally after being 30 minutes late her friends pulled up in their dark blue Explorer.
“Where the hell have you guys been!” Mina chuckled and yelled. “FUAHUMP!”
here, ya brat! Steve yelled back, throwing her a McMuffin from McDonalds. Aww, you guys
went without me?” Mina pouted. Oh stop get in the car silly girl, Andrea sighed while
pushing her towards the back of the truck to load it up.
Not long after they headed they started their journey Mina took the top of her hand
brushed her long straight dark brown hair away from her face and against her finely shaped
perspiring brow, Oahh, It’s so hot in here. I’m opening the windows! Here we go,
complaining already, good thing your sitting back there with Dennis. Steve busted.
"Oh leave her be dude it is kinda hot, "Dennis came to her defense. "I don’t
know what is wrong with me lately. I have been feel so faint and disoriented sometimes,
like I am not even on the same planet or something" Mina giggled. "Maybe your
coming down with something" Andrea added her 2 cents. "Yeah maybe, I started
another diet maybe I am not getting enough vitamins" Mina is constantly worried about
her appearance. She had been about 155lbs as long as she could remember. But her 5'5

It took them about 2 hours to get to the site. It was beautiful and most of the sites were

chuckled. "Come on I’ll take you in" he said as he pulled onto the front of
her tube and began swimming towards the edge of the lake.
Steve and Andrea had already started the fire and grill going. What ya want girlie Steve
said. Hmmm Hot dog and a hamburger Mina said as she wrapped her towel around her waste and
sat on the blanket below the raging fire.
As night fell upon them everyone was already starting to get a little beer buzzed.
"Okay I know, Andrea chuckled, "let’s play truth or dare!" "Oh
please what is this the beginning of a porno? Hahaha" Mina sarcastically snapped
back. "I’m Game!" Steve laughed "ahhhhh hmmm I’d have to agree
with Steve…sorry Mi" Dennis laughed. "Yeah yeah well you go first then!

Andrea looked sternly at the guys and then giggled.
Andrea started to slyly speak." I dare you! To do a shot of vodka and then chug 2
beers right in a row and you can only stop for 1 inhale exhale between each
beer."" Go!! Go!! Go!! "The gang shouted. "Not a problem," Steve
sarcasticly said, standing up with his vodka shot. "Okay Dennis you hand me my
beers." Bam! The first shot went down, Steve stuck his hand for his beer, slowly
pacing himself, finishing and gently tossing the beer can into Andrea’s lap.
"Nother D", .his hand went out again slamming the can to his mouth violently
breathing through his nose as the beer ran from his thin tan lips and down the sides of
his mouth…"yessssssss!" He yelled and threw it into the fire! "Okay
now I ask Mina!" He pelted out."I dare you to go over to that tree and make out

"Oh Guys stop. I know you want me to." Mina got up with an evil beer buzzed look
in her eye and slowly walked over to the tree and giggled. "Ewww it’s probable
all dirty and blah I will kiss my arm and pretend" She said "That will do just
fine" Dennis mumbled as he looked on in amazement. She gave them one last look and
set her beer beside the rotund rouged tree, pushing the hanging curved branches away from
her face, slowly parting her legs and pressing her forearm against the hard concentrated
surface of the tree, giving her arm a little lick and slowly pressing her beer soaked lips

"Dude I am sorry she split so early I am sure it had nothing to do with you or
anything". Steve urged. "It’s totally cool man I am kinda beat as well. The
sun got to me today" Dennis said. "Well I guess we should call it a night then
hmm"? Andrea replied then stood and helped Steve to his feet. "Alrighty guys, I’ll
see you in the morning". Dennis headed off to his tent while Andrea and Steve put out
the fire.
Mina was still tossing and turning so she reached over and rummaged through her bag and
grabbed her Tylenol PM’s. Ahh these will put me right into dreamland, she sighed with
content. 3 always did the trick nicely. She rolled back over and tried again for some
sleep.
After a few minutes Mina shook and grabbed onto her pillow. "What the fuck!" she
moaned. Everything was completely spinning like an out of control carousel. She was
sweating profusely and her breathing became rapid. "I must have had a nightmare or
something" she said out loud. Trying to move, she fumbled for the flash light.
"Ohhh my head ughh. Maybe I shouldn’t have taken those pills because of the
beer. I have to pee too", she pouted. She rolled over and crawled to the front of the
tent, trying to gain her balance to stand. She stood crouched and unzipped the tent
placing her bare feet on the cold damp grass. Grabbing on the metal bar of the tent for
support, she she peered up and stared into the darkness. It was pitch black accept for the
orange glow of the once burning wood and ash. She placed her other foot out of the tent

She made her way through the darkened forest hesitant and paranoid like a death row inmate
on the way to his last supper. "Gosh it's so fucking dark", she stopped short
and turned around slapping her leg, remembering she forgot the flashlight in the tent. She
stared back at the lights of the campsite area bathrooms again stopping and stalling, she
was only about 50 feet away so again she walked on. Suddenly her breath became short, she
held her chest tight and pressed the back of her other hand against her forehead. She
collapsed to her knees, hanging her head and gasping for air. "Ohhugh", she
whimpered placing both hands on the floor. "What's happening to me, ohh" she

loop. She struggled and instant panic set in. She pushed her fingers against the branch

noticed 2 large slithering dark objects wrapping around them and moving towards her.

God!" she screamed. As they moved towards her she tried to look down to see where the
ground was, then 2 other of the same objects started towards her ankles, wrapping
themselves around her, squeezing and making their way up her thighs, then another across

met the object she noticed it was not a snake at all but a weird distorted part of the
tree, it was dark and had a leathery feel to it with prickly coarse edges and a head like

finish the trip.
"Let's get showered and put this behind us, it probable is just bad timing if ya know

"OK as long as you want to, you know we can go home" Andrea said
"Yea but I want to have a good time and don't want to ruin it for anyone else so

The two walked back to the site, Mina holding onto each tree as it pasted.
She never would remember how she spent that first night or how she got there and for a
very long time and with no such luck she tried to replay the missing hours of that
